About Me

Pat is currently accepting new clients

Hey there. If you're reading this, life probably isn't everything you want it to be, and you're looking for a change or some stability. Maybe recent changes have you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, angry, or sad. Maybe you've been struggling with something for a while and want some unbiased, professional support. Wherever you're at, let's talk about it.

Change can be scary, and so can asking for help. If you are seeking therapy for the first time, I commend you! I know that this first step can feel like a huge hurdle, but it is worth it. You have the strength to succeed, but you do not need to do this alone. If this is not your first time in therapy, welcome back! Wellness is a lifelong process, and you should be proud of continuing to put in the work for yourself.

A little about me: My name's Pat. I'm a counseling intern in my final year at Hood College. Before this, I worked as a software engineer and volunteered for a crisis counseling hotline, where I supported clients coping with anxiety, depression, loneliness, grief, family struggles, life transitions, and socioeconomic pressures. My other clinical interests include couples counseling, internet and technology addiction, complex and disenfranchised loss, and interpersonal trauma. As a queer person with ADHD, I'm particularly sensitive to issues facing the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities.

My approach to counseling is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Strengths-Based CBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS or "Parts Work"). This means that I believe in hearing and accepting all parts of you as a person, leveraging your strengths, and committing to changes you want to see in your life. I believe that every person has a unique story informed by their experiences, personality, family history, and culture. Part of my job is being curious and respectful of all of these aspects that make you you, and tailoring our  approach to what you want to achieve.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time outdoors, cooking meals and watching TV with my spouse, singing, pet sitting, and studying random topics that interest me (e.g. geography).

If my background seems like a good fit for you, please feel free to reach out, and we can
schedule a free phone consultation. In the meantime, take care and be kind to yourself!
