Tech Burnout and Layoff Support Group

You do not need to have anything figured out before you show up. You are not the only one.

A weekly online group for people who have been laid off or burned out in tech and the fields that live alongside it, including communications, media, marketing, and design

A lot of people in tech and the work around it build a self on top of the role, the way the work invites you to. The job comes with structure, belonging, income, and identity all braided together, and a layoff or a long burnout cuts into all of them at once. The grief gets called a career move. The fear at 3 a.m. gets called catastrophizing. The shame of missing a job that was also wearing you down gets no name at all.

This group is built for the specific shape of that loss. It blends short, plain teaching on what burnout and job loss actually do to a person, the slower work of meaning and identity when the role that organized your life ends, all within a weekly room of people who have carried the same unnamed thing. The first relief most members feel is finding out they are not the only one.

This is a weekly online group for people who have been laid off or burned out in tech and the fields that live alongside it, including communications, media, marketing, and design. Open to anyone 18 and up. We meet virtually, once a week, TBD. You do not need to have anything figured out before you show up. You are not the only one.

Members who sit a full lap tend to leave with:

● Language for a loss that had no name, and permission to grieve it

● A few tools for holding the thoughts that arrive uninvited at arm's length

● A more accurate read on their own burnout, and where it lives in the body

● A clearer sense of what they still value, separate from what the job took

● Small, real experiments in being unreachable again

● A weekly room of people who understand, which is the part no technique replaces

This group is a supplement to care, not a replacement for individual therapy. Many members do both.

If this sounds like a room you would want to sit in, reach out through our contact form below or call our office to get matched. New Hope's team offers a free consultation to talk through what you are looking for. There is no pressure to have anything figured out first.

What to expect

The group runs as a ten-week wheel. Each week takes one piece of the experience, and the weeks do not build on each other, so you can join on any week and complete the circle wherever you start.

  1. Job loss as real grief, the kind that arrives without a funeral

  2. Who you are when the title stops working: identity after the role ends

  3. The automatic thoughts that show up uninvited and feel like facts

  4. Burnout, named accurately, and where it lives in the body

  5. The always-on reflex that outlives the job

  6. What you still value once the work is gone

  7. Money fear, and the difference between planning and rehearsing

  8. Being laid off while the work itself is being automated

  9. The slow work of meaning when "what do you do" has no easy answer

  10. A next chapter that starts smaller than people expect
