Hannah Halbreich, LICSW

About Me

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the District of Columbia. I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Columbia University and have developed an expertise in helping individuals deal with trauma such as sexual and gender-based violence, anxiety, chronic pain and illness, life changes, depression, and relationship issues. I incorporate Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness into my practice.

My approach to therapy is to harness clients’ strengths in a collaborative, non-judgmental, and affirmative safe space. I support adults regardless of gender and sexual preference, race or religion, and assist them in identifying unhelpful thought patterns in order to develop tools and gain confidence to overcome challenges, heal and grow.

My experience as an English teacher in Vietnam and Russia, Peace Corps Volunteer in Eswatini, Africa, program manager serving survivors of human trafficking, and as a behavioral health clinician, have enhanced my understanding of individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds. I enjoy hiking, reading (especially historical and science fiction), visiting museums, and exploring new places, foods and cultures.

Hannah is accepting new clients on a WAITLIST only.
